第一次见许莹就觉得她性格豪爽,甚至让我很怀疑那些画中安静的女孩是来自她的笔下。后来发现她的性格和她的作品形式一样没有矫情废话只有痛快淋漓,这一点却又与她作品细腻的情感形成鲜明对比。

许莹的绘画很早就形成了一种带有强烈个人语言的艺术风格,在她的创作中可以很清晰的看到,许莹并不满足在中国画传统笔墨语言之上的提升,也并不刻意追求现代流行语言在画面中的价值。而对女性内心世界的追问、探究、剖析,才是她不断追求的艺术方向。正如她的创作形式,从五彩缤纷系列到灰色系列再到淡色系列,这种形式上的变化正反应了艺术家在反复思考纠结中见大见真的过程。

许莹画面中的都市女性或是表情淡漠姿态懒散,或是自怜自爱楚楚动人,或是舞动华丽性感诱惑,或是寂寥忧伤略显疲态,但这些都是作者用心书写的情感日记。而对话系列可以说是许莹用更深层次思索、更细腻的笔墨触动女性世界的真善美。对话就是与自己对话,就是与一切有情众生对话。

When first met Xu Ying, I felt her forthright and even I am very much doubt that the quiet girls in her paintings are drawn by her. Later, I found her personality is the same with her works which has no hypocritical nonsense but only with making stirring. This is in contrast with exquisite emotion in her works.

Xu Yings paintings have early formed the artistic style of strong personal language. In her creation, you can clearly see Xu Ying does not satisfy her promotion on Chinese painting of traditional ink language and also not deliberately pursuit the value of modern popular language in the paintings. Her constant pursuit of artistic direction is the questioning, inquiring, analyzing of womens inner world. As her creative forms, from the colorful series to gray series and then to pale series, this change in the form just reacts the process of getting the big and the real after repeatedly think and confuse.

The urban women in Xu Ying paintings with indifferent expression and lazy posture, or self-pity and self-love and lovingly pathetic, or gorgeous dancing and sexy temptation, or lonely sad and a little tired are creators emotional diary attentively written. Dialogue series with deeper thinking and more delicate brushwork touches the true, the good and the beautiful in women world. Dialogue is the dialogue with self and the dialogue with all sentient beings.
